Plot Twist: Home Is My Favorite Destination

Another Year, More Lessons, More Peace. My birthday just passed, and celebrating my birthday is something I used to do aggressively years ago. I would also be out of the country, somewhere relaxing for a week, living my best life. The other thing I realized is that the place where I live my best life is at home. I have built my life that way, I am fulfilled and excited to do things for myself and my body that don’t include getting on a plane and guessing if the hotel would be luxurious enough, if I would have good service, wondering about the water pressure in the showers and the food, gosh, I used to be so worried about the food. 😆😊 But now I have realized I like participating in things that slow me down and let me enjoy moments!
Don’t get me wrong, traveling is cool, there are still maybe 5 places that I want to visit and revisit, but I am not in a rush (and will be fine if I never go), and spending my time and energy in a place that brings me the most comfort and the most peace is priceless. For those wondering, for my birthday, I slept until I woke up! Enjoyed a day at the spa and people watching. Came home relaxed, went on a 3-mile walk, ate some of my favorite things, and finished the night off with The Lion King! It was PERFECT!
As I was sitting and relaxing, there were some things I was reflecting on that really reminded me how simple life can be when your goal is to make it simple:
Trust your instincts
Laugh EVERY SINGLE CHANCE YOU GET!
Chase your dreams your way & not people
Shoot your shot when you feel like you should.
Don’t believe anyone until they show you actions behind their words.
Focus on the moments and on what brings you peace, and do that often!
Make your life your peace, and don’t do anything that will take that away from you.
Remember who shows up for you in moments that matter to you and who doesn’t.
Live and experience the things you want to; you don’t need anyone else's validation.
Pay attention to who makes the time, not the person who always has excuses as to why they can’t.
Surround yourself with people who love you unconditionally, even when you do things they wouldn’t necessarily do.
Growing up, you often hear how complicated life is, how many twists and turns, and how things will just pop up. You also hear about people, some will love you, some will betray you, some are so unsure of themselves they lay their burdens on you, some don’t give you what you need consistently, because they don’t know what they need, some will be the best thing that ever happened to you, some will never understand you, some will support you, some will always give you ideas they would never do, some of them will stay forever, some will leave the second they get to insecure around you, some will lie to stay around, some will even suck all the positivity they can from you and will make you wonder if you are the crazy one. HOWEVER, you have the choice to have people around you, you want around you. You don’t have to give ANYONE your attention, time, and energy if you don’t want to! As a woman, I have found this the hardest lesson. No is a complete sentence AND nobody gets to tell you how to live your life.
For me, I celebrate life every single day I can. I don’t second-guess; I know who I am, I know who I want to be, I know what I won't tolerate, and I know what path I am on. THIS is the best gift I could EVER give myself, and I am happy I have officially arrived here.
